How God Saved My Brother

 (written by my brother Bobby)

My brother, Chris, got struck by an 18-wheeler last night at 11pm
while driving home from a church function on his Audi A4.

Well, getting struck doesn’t say it all. Chris was merging to a lane
on an unfamiliar state highway last night to avoid construction
traffic on I95. Not knowing the merge lane was short, Chris found
himself suddenly heading straight for the trailer of a fast moving
semi-truck. At 55mph, Chris and his A4 colided perpendicular to the
freight liner going at least that speed in its direction. The car was
jolted to a stop when it reached halfway under the trailer. The truck
also slid the car about twenty feet in the direction it was traveling.

Chris was immediately knocked unconscious. When he came to, he
discovered horrible pain and a loss of eye sight for at least 15
minutes in and out. He feared being blind or paralized or both. He was
aware of the rescue crew working to cut him out of his flattened car
but couldn’t see them.

At the hospital doctors found a fractured pelvis in two spots, broken
ribs, internal bleeding, bruised lung and multiple cuts and bruises.
After many tests and procedures to stop the bleeding they were able to
eliminate need for surgery, thank God.

Chris is in alot of pain but maintains a good attitude and is even
making Chris jokes. When the crew was using the jaws of life to cut
the roof of his car off chris remarked “hey don’t scratch it!”

We are thankful for all the prayers, comments and visits he’s recieved
already. The medical workers are baffled at how relatively minor his
injuries are when compaired to the wreckage. They say Chris had an
angel on his shoulders. I’m confident he’ll be recovering fully in due
time. He’s at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland,PA in the Philly
area

One last thing. After the collision Chris was pinned in his car,
unconscious with his head leaning forward in such a way to block his
passage to air. He wasn’t breathing and couldn’t on his own. That’s
when a witness broke his way through the rear window, crawled into the
seat and lifted Chris’s head back to allow him to breathe. That’s when
Chris came to. I think this would be the angel on his shoulders the
doctors were speaking of. Had that man not done so, this would be a
completely different note.
